  • Hand-braided from three strands
  • 30–50 g per stick
  • Lasts much longer than a straight stick
  • Ridges help scrub teeth

Three strands of beef pizzle, hand-braided into one tight 6-inch chew. The braid adds texture and density, so a 30–50 g braided stick lasts much longer than a straight stick of the same length.

Braids are a favourite for medium dogs who enjoy working at a chew, and the ridges help scrub teeth as they go. Still just one ingredient — 100% beef — slow-roasted and air-dried for low odour.

Tip: braids are firm at first and soften with chewing. Supervise, and remove the last few centimetres.

Which bully stick is right for your dog?

Pick by your dog's weight first, then by how hard they chew. When in doubt, size up — a stick that is too small can become a choking hazard.

Dog weight Typical breeds Recommended sticks
Under 10 kg (22 lb) Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, Shih Tzu, puppies from 4 months

6-inch thin or standard sticks

10–25 kg (22–55 lb) This product Beagle, Cocker Spaniel, Border Collie, French Bulldog

6-inch thick or braided, or 12-inch standard

25–40 kg (55–88 lb) Labrador, Golden Retriever, Boxer, Husky

12-inch thick or braided; 6-inch jumbo for shorter sessions

Over 40 kg (88 lb) or power chewers German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Bernese Mountain Dog, Mastiff

12-inch jumbo or braided

Always supervise chewing and take the stick away once it is small enough to swallow.

Compare bully stick styles

All PUPHE sticks are the same single ingredient — the difference is thickness, and thickness decides how long a stick lasts.

Style 6-inch weight 12-inch weight Best for Chewer type Avg. chew time
Thin 10–18 g 20–37 g Puppies & toy breeds Gentle 10–20 min
Standard 19–24 g 38–49 g Small to medium dogs Light to moderate 20–40 min
Thick 25–29 g 50–59 g Medium to large dogs Moderate to strong 30–60 min
Jumbo 30 g+ 60 g+ Large & giant dogs Power chewers 45–90 min
BraidedThis product 30–50 g 60–100 g Medium to large dogs Strong 60–120 min

Chew times are averages from our in-house testing with medium-sized dogs; every dog is different.

How to give bully sticks safely

  • Supervise every session. Stay nearby while your dog chews.
  • Remove the last 5 cm (2 in). Once the stick is small enough to swallow whole, take it away — or use a bully stick holder.
  • Count the calories. Treats should stay under 10% of your dog's daily calories; see the calorie line in the table above.
  • Introduce gradually. Start with 10–15 minute sessions so your dog's stomach can adjust.
  • Puppies: from about 4 months old, with a thin or standard stick.
  • Fresh water should always be available.

Bully sticks are a treat, not a replacement for regular vet dental care. Ask your veterinarian if your dog has dental, digestive or weight concerns.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between braided and straight bully sticks?

A braided stick is three strands woven together, so it is denser and heavier than a straight stick of the same length and lasts much longer. The ridges also help scrub teeth. Braids start firm and soften as your dog chews.

What are PUPHE bully sticks made of?

One ingredient: 100% beef pizzle (bull pizzle). Nothing is added — no glazes, flavourings, preservatives or rawhide. The sticks are slow-roasted and air-dried, which is what makes them hard, long-lasting and low-odour.

Are PUPHE bully sticks really odour-free?

They are low-odour. Longer drying removes most of the moisture that causes the classic bully stick smell, so they are comfortable to use indoors. Any natural beef chew has a faint smell, especially once it is wet from chewing.

How long does a bully stick last?

It depends on thickness and your dog. In our testing, a 6-inch thin stick lasts a small dog about 10–20 minutes, while a 12-inch braided stick can keep a large dog busy for 90 minutes or more across several sessions. See the comparison table on each product page.

Are bully sticks safe for puppies?

Yes, from about 4 months old. Start with a thin or standard 6-inch stick, keep sessions to 10–15 minutes, and always supervise. Take the stick away once it is small enough to swallow. Our full guide, Are bully sticks safe for puppies?, covers sizes, calories and warning signs.

How many bully sticks can my dog have per day?

Treats should make up no more than 10% of your dog's daily calories. Each product page lists the approximate calories per stick; for most dogs that means one stick a day, or part of a larger stick. Ask your vet if your dog is on a weight-loss plan.

When should I take the bully stick away?

Remove it when about 5 cm (2 in) is left, or as soon as it is small enough for your dog to swallow whole. A bully stick holder lets your dog finish more of the stick safely.

How should I store bully sticks, and how long do they keep?

Keep them in the resealed pouch in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Unopened, they keep for 24 months; once opened, use within about 3 months. A partly chewed stick can be rinsed, air-dried and stored for the next session.

Are bully sticks better than rawhide?

Bully sticks are a single, digestible muscle protein, whereas rawhide is processed hide that can swell and is harder to digest. That is why many owners and vets prefer bully sticks as a rawhide-free chew. Every chew still needs supervision.

    Sits well with our dog

Nice and dense. Took a couple of days to get into it, now she waits by the drawer. No stomach issues, which was a concern with other chews. Happy customer.

    Our cattle dog loves these

Our cattle dog is a strong chewer and these hold up. Way better than the rawhide we used to buy. Took a couple of days to get into it, now she waits by the drawer. Good value per stick compared to the pet store. Will order again.
